Rabbi Stephen BergerNorthwest NCSY Regional Director
Rabbi Stephen Berger grew up in Los Angeles, California. He lived in Israel for nine years, where he met his wife, Sarah, and received rabbinical ordination. Rabbi Berger then came back to Canifornia to run the NCSY chapter in Palo Alto. He has also led NCSY summer programs in Europe and Israel. He became Regional Director of the Long Island region of NCSY, but decided that he prefers to work on the west coast. Sarah Berger grew up in New Zealand before making Aliyah as a young adult. The Bergers have five children, including two sets of twins. This is the Bergers’ third year in Vancouver. Tel. 604-736-7607 ext. 303 |
Rabbi Nachi ParisVancouver NCSY Director
Rabbi Nachi Paris grew up in Chicago before making Aliyah at the age of ten. He served in the elite ‘Oketz” unit in the Israel Defense Forces while studying at the HaKotel Hesder Yeshiva in the Old City of Jerusalem. Nachi received a Bachelors of Education degree from Herzog College. He met his wife, Racheli, in 1999 while they both worked as advisors for NCSY in Ukraine. They married in 2003 and have four children Noa, Ruth, Achinoam, and Avner Before coming to Vancouver, Nachi worked at the OU Israel Center in Jerusalem in both programming and administrative roles. His wife, Racheli, has worked as a professional photographer as well as a teacher and day care center manager. This is their third year in Vancouver. Sandra is responsible for all adminstrative manners relating to vNCSY, from finances to event registration and anything in between. Sandra keeps vNCSY runnning smoothly and we would be totally lost without her amazing efficiency and organization skills. Tel. 604-736-7607 ext. 315 Mayer Kovacs Mayer was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating high school, Mayer studied at Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh in Israel for two years. He then served in the Israeli Defense Forces in the Givati Infantry Brigade. Upon completing his military service, Mayer studied political science and history at Yeshiva University. Mayer graduated from Yeshiva University in May 2008 and is currently studying at RIETS, Yeshiva University’s rabbinical seminary. Mayer hopes to attend law school after he finishes his studies at RIETS. He loves imitating George W.Bush(although he’ll have to find a new politician to mimic when W leaves the White House in January) and entertaining NCSYers with his “car dance.” This is Mayer’s third year as an advisor.
